biography
Mark Morgan was born in L ubbock, TX and was raised in a musical household. Because his father was a band director, Mark experimented with many different instruments at a young age. Mark even made Junior High All-Region in the 4th Grade, making it clear early on that he had a special connection with music.
Mark first became interested in guitar at age 11 and he never looked back. Early on he studied under world renowned guitarist David Brandon and current Sparrow recording artist Josh Wilson. Mark spent most of his teen years playing lead guitar in a number of local rock bands.
After graduating from Coronado High School, Mark went on to further his musical education at South Plains College, where he earned his degree in Commercial Music. While at SPC, he studied under many highly respected instructors, including record producer Scott Faris. He was honored to be chosen to represent SPC’s Music Program in their audition only performance ensembles, “AlternaTV” and “Touring”. In 2007, Mark was awarded SPC’s Top Male Instrumentalist in Rock/Jazz/R&B. Mark believes that his time at South Plains College made him the player he is today.
Currently, Mark is the lead guitarist for the Christian Rock band- A Road Less Traveled. During his time with ARLT, he has shared the stage with many notable artists including: P.O.D., Thousand Foot Krutch, Switchfoot, Red, Skillet, David Crowder Band, Disciple, The Letter Black, Gungor, Hawk Nelson, Superchick and Trapt.
Regularly, Mark can be seen gigging around the Lubbock area with various acoustic and full band acts. On the weekends, he might also be found playing guitar for Experience Life Church. Mark has the coolest girlfriend on the planet, Liz, and when he’s not playing music they enjoy quoting Will Ferrell movies together.
