Biography
Doug Stapp was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1977 and has played guitar for 25 years. Staap has been playing in bars since he was 13 years old with various local bands like Junk Head, Mute and Flashback.
In 2002, he released his first solo album Doug Stapp – Static as a self release in Zoink!!! Records. The release got him touring with acts like Yngwie Malmsteen and Geoff Tate, and among others. Because of a parody cover of a Britney Spears song on static, the CD got picked up by Nightmare Records for Japanese release.
In 2007, he released his second solo album Doug Stapp - The Earth Says Hello, on the record label Progressive Arts Music in the US, Europe and Japan.
He was featured on a compilation CD called Guitar Masters Vol.1 (along with artists like Joe Satriani, Zakk Wylde, Jeff Beck, John Paul Jones and more) for a cover of Edgar winters "Frankenstein" Scott Stine and him recorded.
Staap was also featured in a book called "Recording Techniques of the Guitar Masters" written by Brian Tarquin and released through course technology. Available through every major bookstore.
He has done session work on a ton of different albums too, mostly European heavy metal bands.
Currently, he is in the middle recording his new instrumental album and playing with hair metal tribute band Whips N Kisses.
He also carries various endorsements with Seymour Duncan, Peavey and Rocktron to name a few also.
