Biography
Cecil White started playing guitar when he was around 4 years old and played mostly in his church with my his until he was about 21 years old. When White was 12, his first guitar student was his 6th grade teacher.
He played in various bands both Country and Rock, in 1968 the band he was in was called "Pedestrian Crossing" opened two nights in Amarillo for "Doby Gray".
From 1969 to 1979, White played with a band by the name of "Sound Express" which recorded with Tex Rhodes.
From 1979 to 1984, he also played with the "Armadillo Flats" which won the "Wrangler Star Search" for Texas in 1982. They opened for Conway Twitty, Gary Stewart (3x's), Joe Ely (6x's), Jerry Jeff Walker, The Mains Brothers and we Toured with Sylvia. Glen D Hardin played piano on their record.
White has played with many talented and even sometimes famous people such as Larry Mohan, Johnny Gimble, Riders In The Sky, Christy Lane, Raulna English and in the Wrangler Star Search Show with TG Shepard, Acosta, Tammy Wynette, Jerry Reed, Mel Tillis and Dennis Weaver.
From 1994 to 2003, he played various local Jamborees and met Jimmy Burson. They formed "Texas in the Swing" which played Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri and Western Swing Festivals along with "The Texas Playboys", Curtis Potter, Johnny Bush, "The River Road Boys", and others.
